Q. Is AmberOBD supported in different countries?
A. Each country has different settings so you will need a different AmberOBD if travelling to another country.

Q. What hardware does AmberOBD app support?
A. AmberOBD app only supports our AmberOBD

Q. What happens if there is no cellular coverage while using AmberOBD?
A. The AmberOBD contains a GPS chip which tracks your routes regardless of cellular connection. Your trips cache locally on the adapter until there’s a network connection again. They will appear once the adapter is within cellular range. Cellular coverage is required for Dashboard information, Error code clearing, and real-time trip tracking.
If you drive out of cellular range, the cellular connection drops out while driving, or you park in an area without cell coverage (e.g. deep in an underground garage) your trip will not appear until your AmberOBD reconnects to the 4G network and all the data uploads. The app will show “Offline” which means the AmberOBD has lost connection with the cloud and the last thing our servers knew you were doing was driving. This means that the app would also show your car is still driving, even when it isn't. If you don't connect to the 4G network at all during a trip, you'll see an " Offline" message in the app and the trip will not show up when it ends. Once the car and adapter are within cellular range / the AmberOBD reconnects to 4G, the trip in question will upload with the correct time since the AmberOBD knows when the trip ended and an approximated end location taken from the last known GPS point.

Q. How do I know if something is wrong with my car?
A. AmberOBD is an onboard diagnostic reader receives diagnostic information from your car's OBD system, and sends you alerts called Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) as well as other information about common vehicle issues. You can view diagnostic information about your vehicle, along with descriptions of most DTCs.

Q. Does AmberOBD detect all problems with my vehicle?
A. AmberOBD detects many problems but not all. Issues like low tyre pressure or blown light globe are not detected.

Q. I share a car. How can other drivers set up AmberOBD?
A. You can only have 1 account owner for each AmberOBD. The owner of an AmberOBD can unplug and plug into a different vehicle and continue to receive data for each trip they take. Data will never be lost from one vehicle to another.

Q. What vehicles are compatible with AmberOBD?
A. AmberOBD supports 95% of vehicles on the roads today. Some vehicles as early as 1996 that have an OBDII port are also compatible with AmberOBD so please contact us if you are unsure.

Q. What mobile devices work with the AmberOBD app?
A. AmberOBD can be used with iPhone or Android mobile apps which are supported on iPhone 5 and newer, running iOS 8 & up, and most, common Android phones* on 4.0 and above, though there are some known incompatible Android phones. AmberOBD is not supported on tablets or iPads.

Q. Can I purchase the AmberOBD as a gift for someone else.
A. Yes of course you can. We will just require their personal details once the AmberOBD has been presented to them.

Q. Does AmberOBD work on a tablet or iPad?
A. At this time AmberOBD does not work on tablet or iPad.

Q. Does the AmberOBD use power when my vehicle is turned off?
A. The AmberOBD uses 50-60mA while the vehicle is running and 5-6mH when the vehicle is turned off. The AmberOBD enters deep sleep model when the vehicle battery voltage is less than 4V to save vehicle battery life

Q. Does AmberOBD work if I have after-market modifications on my vehicle?
A. There are no guarantees that the AmberOBD will work correctly unless tested.

Q. Can I use an OBD-II device splitter?
A. We do not support the use of a splitter or running it in conjunction with another OBD-II device. We understand that some vehicles may find it hard to install the AmberOBD because it is too close to the acceleration and brake pedals. In this instance we do not recommend the AmberOBD.

Q. Can I use the AmberOBD even if my vehicle isn't supported?
A. If your vehicle is not supported it may cause damage to your electronics and is not recommended.

Q. Does the AmberOBD work for electric cars? Hybrids? Compressed Natural Gas?
A. AmberOBD supports regular petrol vehicle, (non plug-in) petrol-hybrid cars, and diesels. AmbrOBD does not support electric, plug-in hybrids, or natural gas cars. While these cars do often have diagnostic ports that look just like the OBD-II port, electric cars are not required to conform to the multitude of standards upon which we've built our hardware. OBD-ll was designed for emissions and electric cars are zero emissions. The adapter often can't detect "ignition on" in plug-in hybrids and gets false ignition-off/on readings while the car is in motion.

Q. Can I download my data?
A. If you have the desktop platform then yes you can download data.

Q. What if I buy a new vehicle?
A. AmberOBD can work in more than 1 vehicle. You can move from 1 vehicle to another vehicle and still retain your data. Please make sure your vehicle is compatible.

Q. Can I use the AmberOBD in two or more vehicles?
A. Yes you can, just unplug from one vehicle to the other. Please make sure your vehicle is compatible.

Q. How does AmberOBD improve my fuel efficiency and save me money?
A. There’s a lot of research that shows aggressive driving (highway speeding, rapid acceleration, hard braking) hurts fuel efficiency.

Highway Speeding: While every car has a different optimal speed for fuel efficiency, petrol mileage usually decreases rapidly above 80km/h.
Rapid Acceleration: Pressing really hard on the acceleration pedal from a stop uses much more petrol to reach the same speed than accelerating more slowly. On the highway, speeding up and slowing down frequently is less efficient than cruising at a steady speed.

Hard Braking: Though braking itself doesn’t waste petrol, braking hard is usually a sign that you were driving faster than you needed to be prior to stopping (e.g., speeding up to a stop light and slamming on the brakes). Try taking your foot off the pedal as soon as you see the light turn red and coasting to a stop.

The AmberOBD alert you to hard brakes, fast accelerations, and speeding. With this real-time feedback, we hope our users can make more informed decisions about their driving habits. Reducing these behaviours can have a real impact on how much you spend on petrol.

Research has also shown that keeping your engine properly tuned can impact fuel efficiency. With the help of AmaberOBD’s “Error Code”, the app can inform you of potential emissions-related problems with your vehicle before you visit your mechanic.

Q. When I make an order how long does deliver take?
A. Approximately 5 – 7 days

Q. Does AmberOBD support Windows Phone and Blackberry?
